January 2018 Newsletter - Blackrod Substation Delivery

Another Successful Delivery & Installation

We are pleased to announce our latest substation has been successfully delivered and installed.

EPS Managing Director, Brian Mckean, personally attended the successful delivery of the second substation for the CP5 framework for Network Rail.

Blackrod is an Auto-Transformer Substation (ATS) situated north-east of Manchester. EPS was proud to be the HV specialist supplying all the switchgear and fitting out the substation HV chamber.

The delivery of the substation from the transport lorry to substation plinth was recorded as eight minutes. Considering the complexity and precision involved we are sure this must be Guinness World Record worthy!

Chris Cahill started with EPS as an apprentice in 2015 and is now employed as an Electrical Engineer. He said: “It has been a really exciting time coming out of my apprenticeship and being involved with the testing of the HV equipment in the Blackrod substation.

"I’m pleased that EPS has not only given me the opportunity but the responsibility to ensure that this was done to the highest standard.”

- Chris Cahill, Electrical Engineer

We look forward to sharing more news and developments from EPS soon.
