December 2017 Newsletter - CP5 Contract Implementation

EPS Push Forward Northern Powerhouse

Since being awarded the Network Rail CP5 National Substations Supply Framework contract in 2015, as part of the Sub Station Alliance (SSA), EPS has been working tirelessly towards implementation of the contract - which is part of the wider Northern Powerhouse Scheme.

In Clifton EPS supplied the high voltage equipment and fitted out the substation on site providing full 3D CAD and BIM modelling support which enabled the project to progress speedily and efficiently.

Brian Mckean, director of EPS said: "SSA confirmed that they were pleased with the efforts made by EPS to enable the delivery for their first traction substation for CP5 framework contract.

"I could not be more pleased that EPS was part of the Government's Northern Powerhouse Programme."

The framework involves provision of multiple high voltage traction power substations which will be delivered as part of Network Rail’s five-year £38bn spending and investment programme.

Thomasz Ramian, Senior Fitter at EPS, said: "It's been a real learning curve moving from assembling components to assembling the final switch gear.

"This has broadened my skills and knowledge immensely and I have enjoyed having the opportunity to work on site with different engineering companies working collaborating to deliver the final product."
