Assembly Line Operatives
Switchgear/Electronics R&D Technician
Excellent role available for an R&D technician. This is a great opportunity for a talented individual to work in a fast-paced and innovative industry. In this role you will work alongside an experienced R&D manager who will aid in your personal development and training. This job is above all about enthusiasm, not being afraid to get your hands dirty, and problem solving.
Working as an integral and enthusiastic member of the R+D department.
Assisting with the in-house production of electronic circuit boards.
Operate and maintain the 3D printer.
Working with various chemicals including resin, silicone etc.
Use of various product/component development programmes.
Application of general mechanical/electrical principles.
Working unsupervised and on own initiative.
Carrying out routine mechanical and electrical testing to specific procedures.
Manufacturing and assembling test fixtures, jigs and components.
Manufacturing role operating the following machinery / equipment:
Manual pedestal drill.
CNC coil winder.
Circular and band saws.
General use of hand tools.
Maintenance of specialist equipment.
The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will be: meticulously focused on attention to detail, flexible, self-motivated, positive, a good communicator, possess good judgement, be approachable, personable, dependable, and use their initiative at all times.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills
IT literate (MS Office).
Systematic structured and well-documented experimental skills.
Familiar with lab equipment such as power supplies, multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
A good feel for amps and volts.
Experience of accurately recording test results.
Hands on experience building prototypes, panels, or something similar.
Ability to handle chemicals safely, including those used for producing printed circuit boards.
Knowledge of elementary circuit board design.
Ability to write technical reports.
Knowledge of project management.
Experience of basic machining and fabrication.
Experience with Solidworks CAD.
Experience with 3D printing.
Experience of working on-site (particularly in a substation or similar facility).
Desirable previous experience
Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a development environment.
Relevant experience in handling chemicals, soldering circuit boards, mechanical and electrical assembly
We expect a good standard of numeracy and literacy (GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English).
A BTEC or higher in an engineering discipline is highly desirable.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
